An Orange County jury has awarded $1.47 million to a Deerpark woman who fell in a hole at New Hope Farms. The jury awarded her husband $100,000 for loss of services. Carolyn Clark, 46, was leaving the Deerpark Family Festival on July 7, 2000, when she fell into a hole. The farm was undergoing construction, and the hole was unlit and unmarked. Clark suffered a broken ankle and related injuries. Clark’s husband testified he had lost his hunting and fishing buddy and work companion.
