Derek S. Andrews is a dedicated criminal defense attorney with extensive courtroom and trial experience, serving as an associate attorney with Larkin Ingrassia Criminal Defense Attorneys. Having made court appearances in nearly every county across New York State, Derek is known for developing tailored defense strategies for clients facing charges of Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and other vehicle-based crimes such as Vehicular Manslaughter, Vehicular Assault, Reckless Driving, and Leaving the Scene of Fatal and Personal Injury Accidents; violent crimes like Assault and Murder; domestic violence offenses; weapon possession crimes; sex offenses; internet and computer-based crimes; and white collar offenses such as grand larceny, theft, and embezzlement.
With a deep commitment to client advocacy, he has taken numerous cases to jury verdicts and argued cases in multiple appellate courts, demonstrating his skill and determination in the courtroom. He also makes regular appearances in administrative matters before the Department of Motor Vehicles where he helps clients navigate both chemical test refusal hearings and fatality hearings. Early in his career, Derek developed a strong passion for defending individuals accused of DWI and related offenses. He recognized the significant impact these charges can have on a person’s life and became committed to ensuring his clients receive a fair and robust defense, protecting their rights and their future. This special interest inspired Derek to complete the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s courses in DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement—the same courses law enforcement officers are taught.
Beyond his work in the courtroom, Derek previously served as an elected board member and officer of the New York State Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers (NYSACDL). He maintains an active presence within NYSACDL and its Motor Vehicle Issues Committee where he has advised members and the defense bar throughout New York State on various matters affecting vehicle and traffic laws and regulations. He is also a proud member of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA), Dutchess County Bar Association, Orange County Bar Association, and the National College of DUI Defense (NCDD).

Derek’s academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree from Western New Mexico University and a Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law.
