Martin S. Butcher

Martin S. Butcher joined the firm of Larkin Ingrassia, LLP in May of 2023 in the firm’s Matrimonial/Family Law department. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Butcher had his own private practice focused on Family Law, having worked at several prominent law firms in both Rockland and Orange Counties since moving to the Hudson Valley in 2004.
Mr. Butcher is a graduate of the University of Westminster in London, England.
Throughout his career, Mr. Butcher has focused primarily on family and matrimonial law. He has successfully tried numerous complex cases involving a range of issues including child custody, equitable distribution, support, family offenses, and enforcement of existing agreements and orders. Mr. Butcher has also successfully argued and defended several appeals before the Appellate Division and the Court of Appeals.
Mr. Butcher approaches every case with a calm demeanor, pays close attention to the details, and fights for his clients every step of the way. He seeks to provide a reassuring and stabilizing presence at what can be a very chaotic time in the lives of his clients. He insists on calls and emails being returned in a timely manner, ensures that his clients are kept informed of the progress in their cases, seeks ways to resolve his cases in a timely manner, all while working to be as cost-efficient as possible for his clients.
Mr. Butcher is admitted to practice in the State of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Rockland County Bar Association, and the Orange County Bar Association. He has received a “Preeminent” peer rating for the highest level of professional excellence through Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized as a top family law attorney by Hudson Valley Magazine. He serves on the board of directors for the Legal Aid Society and Hudson Valley Honor Flight. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Rockland County Bar Association and was also the chair of the Family Law Committee for the RCBA before he moved his practice to Orange County. Mr. Butcher is also a member of the BNI Rainmakers Group based in Goshen, New York.
